Two Powerball tickets worth $200,000 and one worth $50,000 were purchased in New Jersey for Monday night’s lottery drawing. The $200,000 tickets were both sold in Parsippany, Morris County. One was purchased at a Wawa on New Road and the other at the Shell gas station on Route 46 east, lottery officials said.
The Powerball jackpot has soared to an estimated $1.5 billion for Saturday night’s drawing, the fifth largest in game history and the seventh highest among all lottery jackpots in the U.S.
The Powerball drawing to occur on Saturday night offers an estimated $1.5 billion annuitized jackpot (or a $686.5 million lump-sum cash payout). According to Powerball, this is the 45th consecutive drawing without a jackpot winner—a record for a single Powerball cycle.
Saturday's prize is the fifth -biggest Powerball and seventh-largest U.S. jackpot. "This jackpot is set to deliver the ultimate windfall," according to Matt Strawn, Powerball's product group chair and the Iowa Lottery 's CEO.
The cash option for tonight's drawing is worth an estimated $572.1 million. The current jackpot is the sixth largest in the game's history.
Spanulo got her ticket the Food Lion on Rebecca Drive in Hillsborough and matched the numbers on four white balls and the red Powerball to win $50,000. "Because she bought a Power Play ticket, her prize quadrupled to $200,000 when the 4X multiplier hit," lottery officials said.
