November 14, 1971: On this day 53 years ago, Bob Griese connected with Paul Warfield on an 86 yard touchdown pass--the longest in Miami Dolphins history. It was the second of three touchdown passes from Griese to Warfield in a 24-21 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in front of 66,435 fans at the Orange Bowl. Did you know Bob Griese spent one year (1981) as an assistant coach with the Miami Dolphins? Griese retired as a player after the 1980 season due to a shoulder injury. However, he had one year left on his contract. He agreed to a proposal from owner Joe Robbie to remain with the team as an assistant coach for the 1981 season.
